When I started selling on Amazon Marketplace nearly two years ago, I hadn't conducted any intense research on internet marketing. I simply decided to list a few of my personal belongings out of curiosity; what happened afterward was truly inspiring. Although I’ve learned quite a bit about internet marketing since that faithful day, I can sincerely say that selling products on Amazon Marketplace continues to be one of the simplest ways to earn money online. The purpose of this guide is to provide you with tips and information on how to sell on Amazon Marketplace. If you utilize the information that’s out lined in this guide, you’ll increase your odds of making money with Amazon Marketplace on a consistent basis. That's not to say that you won’t experience drawbacks in utilizing this approach; but in my experience, the advantages far out weight the disadvantages. In this section, we'll review some of the pros and cons of becoming a marketplace seller

Advantages:

1. Trust

Amazon launched its online store in 1995 and has since grown in to one of the most successful online ventures to date. Amazon consumers general feel safe in utilizing their services due to the company’s longevity.

2. Amazon Has a Great e-Business Infrastructure

In selling products on your own, you would need to build a process of communication that includes e-commerce software, security solutions, suppliers, inventory software, skilled employees, etc. Amazon has essentially done the work for your. By utilizing their infrastructure, your merchandise could potentially be viewed by millions of shoppers.

3. Increased Sales

Amazon.com has great selling power due to its recognizable name. They have a customer base of over 80 million active customers.

4. No Listing Fees for 3rd Party Sellers

Third party sellers, like Amazon Marketplace merchants, are sellers who promote products that aren’t dispatched or necessarily stocked by Amazon. In addition, merchants can setup a marketplace account for free.

5. Amazon offers a very reasonable Shipping Credit to help you cover your shipping cost.

6. Amazon Marketplace makes it possible for sellers to earn high profit margins.

7. Amazon is well positioned to weather a recession.

Disadvantages:

1. It’s Hard to Build Customer Loyalty

Amazon does not allow sellers to contact buyers directly. You must correspond with customers via your seller account on Amazon's website. So in essence, customers are buying from Amazon not you. However, you can increase your chances of creating customer loyalty by applying good customer service practices. This issue is covered in more detail in part to this guide.

2. Amazon provides limited support to third party sellers (you must supply the support).

3. You have to dispatch an order within two business days (this could actually be an advantage if handled correctly).

4. Depending on what you sell, Amazon's commission could be relatively high.

Amazon has 6 international main sites (Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr and Amazon.jp). Buying items from the nearest site to you not always means to get the best price once you sum up item's price and shipping costs. This guide shows you how to use a simple tool to track all Amazon sites with only two clicks in order to find the best offered price.

Steps

1. Open your favorite Internet navigator and go to the following free tool


2. Select the kind of item you are searching for. There are 3 available categories: books, movies and music.


3. Select the site from which you want to do the initial search. By default your query will be processed by Amazon.com but you can change it if you want in order to find very specific items.


4. Type in the search box some keywords related to what you are looking for.


5. You will get a list of results. Now you only have to browse the list to find an item of your interest.


6. Once you click in the item's title you will be send to the details page of the item. The details page shows you the availability, price, shipping costs and total price of the item in the different sites of Amazon. All prices will be converted to your local currency. Now you have found which Amazon site offers this item at the best price.


7. If you are planning to buy more than one item from Amazon, there is an even better functionality: in the details page you can use the "Add Item to Comparer" button. This button simulates a virtual basket of items that allows you to see the combined price of multiple items. More items and almost same shipping cost means getting a better price.


8. Once you have added all items to the simulated basked you can view the result through a link in the header of the page called "The comparer".

Tips

• The "multiple item comparer" allows you to send all items you have selected directly to Amazon cart with the "Add to cart" button.


• The index page offers a link to bestsellers in all categories in the different sites. Always it's interesting to know what people likes in different parts of the world.


• If the above page don't give you enough ideas also there is a local top searches in the index page.


• Anytime you see an author name you can click on it to get a full search of all books, movies or music from this author.


• All prices are converted to your local currency, so this tool can also be useful to get a reference whether Amazon offers a good price compared to your local bookstore.


• All items from Amazon are usually shipped from the nearest warehouse to you so it doesn't matter the site where you get the item from.


• Amazon user accounts are global so you only have to register in one Amazon site to be able to buy in any site.
